Have respect for Scottsville card

Anybody keen to make “big money” should take a look at today’s Scottsville card.

There are 10 races and almost all of them comprise full fields of incredibly competitive racing. It will not be easy, but for anyone who can crack the puzzle and catch these exotics it will be a big payday.

Race 7 is one of the smaller fields with just 13 runners and is a MR 86 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1400m. Respect At Bay has been quite sparingly raced and is a three-time winner from 13 starts. One has to go back to May last year to find the only time she raced over this distance and that was on the Polytrack. On that occasion she finished a 0.50-length second behind Cathay Specific.

She was then tried 1600m and after failing over that distance trainer Garth Puller has brought her back to races over 1000m and 1200m. However, Puller could have found the perfect race to give her another shot at 1400m. He has engaged apprentice Eric Ngwane and that gives her a 2.5kg allowance, bringing her into the race carrying just 51.5kg. Ngwane knows her well and is that last jockey to have won a race on the five-year-old mare.

Well In Flight is the likely favourite as she has been running against the likes of Silver Mountain. She has been running against a lot stronger and should contest the finish.

Others to consider are Time Marches On, Timeous and School Run.
