SA horses make world rankings

The rankings were released last week and cover performances to the end of 2018.


South Africa has four horses in the top 100 of Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings – and a total of 21 on the 250 best race-horses list.

The rankings, for horses three-years-old and upwards who raced in 2018, are jointly headed by Great Britain’s Cracksman and the Australian Winx, both on ratings of 130.

The rankings were released last week and cover performances to the end of 2018.

The South African charge is lead by the Dean Kannemeyer-trained Last Winter – the 2018 Sun Met runner-up – in 59th position with a rating of 119.

The other South African horses in the top 100, Coral Fever (trained by Robbie Sage), Do It Again (Justin Snaith) and Marinaresco (Candice Base-Robinson); are all in 78th place on ratings of 118.South African horses in the top 250 include One World, winner of this year’s CTS 1600; and 2019 Sun Met runners Head Honcho, Undercover Agent, Oh Susanna, and Eyes Wide Open.
