This weekend hip hop’s biggest power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z shocked fans by announcing a new album on which the pair had collaborated.
The album, “Everything Is Love” was released on the artist-owned music streaming platform Tidal, which Jay-Z launched back in 2014. If you wanted to listen to The Carters new album you had to be one of the service’s 3 million subscribers.
In a rather unusual move, Jay-Z and Beyonce have released “Everything Is Love” on music services Spotify and Apple Music. Before now, the pair have been pretty adamant about locking their releases behind Tidal’s subscription service.
It could be that Queen Bee and Jay-Z may have lost some faith in Tidal – their new album has basically been a two-day exclusive on the service. If you’re a Spotify Premium subscriber or an Apple Music subscriber (for just 60 bucks a pop), you can listen to “Everything Is Love” right now.
The album officially dropped on Sunday and has been receiving very positive reviews so far. After Beyonce revealed her husband’s cheating on “Lemonade” and Jay-Z released the self-reflecting “4:44”, “Everything Is Love” seems to have brought the couple full circle.
