What’s new in soapieland
We all love our soapies and at times it seems the characters in them are familiar friends. We love to hear news about them on and off our screens.

The latest in the South African soapie scene is that former Isibaya actress Nomazamo Mbatha will be returning to the soapie.
Mbatha became a household name playing Thandeka Zungu, the daughter of Mpiyakhe Zungu(Siyabonga Twala). Viewers watched spell bound for weeks when her love story with the son of her family’s rivals grew stronger and seemed like it would end in tragedy. But all ended well with the couple getting married. We wonder, how will she make her comeback?
With Isibaya fans receiving the good news of one of their favourites returning, Rhythm City is losing Gail October, a character played by the vivacious Pam Andrews. We met Gail 7 years ago and have been with her through it all, even having a baby with David Genaro, she’s certainly brought some drama to the soapie and will be missed. She posted her farewell and a cryptic reference to her new venture on Instagram.
Lastly but not least, the fired 16 actors from Generations are allegedly seeking an urgent court interdict to stop the airing of Generations: The Legacy. It is reported that Mfundi Vundla is aware of this, but still maintains that Generations will air as usual. The Generations saga is fast turning into the stuff soapies are made of.
