During an episode that aired over the weekend, Mdu’s life history, accent and claims that he has three properties in Cape Town, Haartebeespoort and Honey Dew were questioned by not only the contestants on the show but on social media, particularly Twitter.
In one visit, a potential candidate to date Mdu said she couldn’t understand why his accent changed all the time. When he explained himself that he had been raised by foster parents and had been to 14 countries, the candidate didn’t believe him.
On Twitter, Mdu was ridiculed for his British accent, with many asking why it became so pronounced when he was called out on it. The whole episode saw Mdu trending as people come forward to attest to the belief that he was an impostor. One Twitter user circulated a screenshot conversation in which she tells her friend about Mdu fixing her dad’s decoder and him posing with other people’s cars.
