South African music is uniquely diverse, with solid, catchy beats and simple lyrics – sometimes a bit too simple.
The Citizen has chosen eight songs that have been mercilessly overplayed at some point in the past few years, with lyrics that often sound more complicated than they really are.
It must be noted that, despite finding out that the song meanings were less than overwhelming, these songs are still loved and cherished by South Africans, and will be played as throwbacks at weddings and parties for years to come.
