Waka Waka hits a billion views on YouTube

The 2010 FIFA World Cup anthem has hit a billion views on YouTube – making Shakira the latest star to join the coveted YouTube billion views club. Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) hit  1,001,078,940 views on Monday afternoon and is now sitting on 1,002,721,397 views (and counting).

Shakira expressed her excitement  in a tweet and said that the song and anthem changed her life. “Wow! Waka Waka now has a more than a BILLION views! The song and the video that changed my life.”, she tweeted.

Other videos in the YouTube billion views club include Adele’s  hit single Hello which reached a billion views in just 87 days, Psy’s Gangnam style which  reached a billion views in 100 days, Justin Bieber’s Baby and Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again.
