Who has the staying power on Idols SA?
After weeks of gruelling rehearsals, lack of sleep and tough judging, the three remaining Idols SA contestants are very close to the finish line. And by the look of this season's top three, the winner is definitely going to be unique.

Praise worshipper Vincent Bones (pictured) was popular right from the start of the show. He touched South Africans with his inspirational life story, but what kept him in the competition was his ability to stay true to his R&B and soul roots with almost every performance – even if it didn’t always please the judges.
Stellenbosch University student Lize Mynhardt (pictured) has been among the most interesting to watch among the contestants. Her strength has been in her ability to capture audiences with unique renditions of popular songs.
Idols SA’s Bongi Silinda is destined for greatness
That said, Bones and Mynhardt are not “next idol material”. Over the past couple of seasons Idols SA has struggled to select a winner who didn’t disappear from the music scene after winning the competition. The next idol needs to be someone who is determined to make a name for themselves in the music industry after Idols, and who genuinely could build a large fan base in the country.
Bongi Silinda seems like the contestant who could make the most of the Idols experience. Having been active in the music industry as a vocalist for South African icon Vusi Mahlasela, the 24-year-old comes with a wealth of experience. She’s versatile and energetic, and could easily feature alongside popular musicians such as Moneoa, Brenda Mtambo and Zahara.
