WATCH: Bonnie Mbuli teases with trailer of her new US drama series

South African actress Bonnie Mbuli has teased a trailer of an upcoming US drama series she will be part of that kicks off in 2024 alongside revered Hollywood actors.

“I can’t wait for you to see our new show Parish. I play the badass Shamiso Tongai alongside some of the finest and remarkable talent. Parish premieres in 2024 on AMC TV and AMC Plus,” averred Mbuli on her Instagram.

Based on the BBC One series The Driver, Parish tells the story of Gray Parish who is portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito. Parish is a good man with a troubled past, who gave up his life of crime for life as a family man.

But when his son is violently murdered, old habits return, sending him on a relentless quest with moral intentions and dangerous consequences. Esposito is known for his roles on award-winning productions such as Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

“Giancarlo is a singular talent who is already beloved by AMC viewers through his standout performances in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul,” Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, said in a statement.

Mbuli continues to make a mark

The veteran actress, who also co-hosted the Afternoon Express, moved to Los Angeles about nine months ago to further pursue her career. But the 44 year-old has been carving a name for herself abroad.

She previously starred opposite Sir Kenneth Charles Branagh as policewoman Grace Mthembu in the British series Wallander. In 2020, Mbuli starred as Jasmine Hadley in the British series Noughts + Crosses.

“The past couple of months have been a culmination of my experiences, prophetic words, skill, talent and faith converging into a divine alignment of my purpose and calling,” wrote the actress on her Instagram.

She recently launched Anodos Ministry together with partners, which is a platform to help Christians in the entertainment industry who struggle with balance of upholding their religious beliefs while pursuing artistic goals.
