The new food shows you should be watching

There are a few things that make a house a home – but home-cooked meals probably top the list.

Sometimes, some of us would rather watch people make meals than actually get behind the stove. If you like to voyeuristically watch others cook, there’s a few new food shows you can’t miss.

What: Beat Bobby Flay
When: Mondays (Food Network)
Time: 9pm

Do these chefs have what it takes to take on chef Bobby Flay? Find out in the new series of Beat Bobby Flay, where two chefs compete against each other for the privilege of facing off against kitchen king Flay.

With Flay’s 65% win rate, these chefs are going to have to give it everything they’ve got if they want to stand a chance. With celebrity judges including Amanda Freitag, Giada de Laurentiis and Alex Guarnaschelli stepping in to decide the winning dish in a blind taste test, anyone has a shot of taking home the title. It’s high stakes, edge-of-your-seat entertainment.

What: Bite Club
When: Tuesdays (from February 5 on Food Network)
Time: 9pm

Join five chefs as they battle to the bitter end in a no-holds-barred competition. Host Tyler Florence gets five of a Chicago’s most talented chefs to a restaurant they’ve never cooked at before.

While two become judges, the remaining three must call on all their skills to see them through several increasingly difficult challenges, including using secret ingredients and reimagining local staples.

What: Sinful Sweets
When: Fridays (from February 15 on Food Network)
Time: 9pm

Join British chef Harry Eastwood on a trip of a lifetime as she explores the best of America’s decadently delicious sweet treats. Her journey begins in chocolate heaven as she samples a chocolate martini, while in Chicago she helps make Wonuts – part waffle, part donut.

Later, things get messy when she helps make sticky buns and caramelised pecan buns. Plus, there’s Italian ices, old-fashioned candy and even a peanut butter ice cream cake. Don’t miss Eastwood’s sinfully sweet adventures – and remember to save room for dessert.

Following the success of two seasons of Nailed It, a special holiday-themed season and the first episode of Nailed It DIY, Mexico becomes the first country to receive a spin-off of this hilarious baking competition, where you root for people to fail instead of succeed.

Hosted by Omar Chaparro and head judge Anna Ruiz, home bakers in Mexico with a terrible track record take a shot at recreating edible masterpieces for a cash prize.
