The Braai Show, with Cassper Nyovest as the new host of the talk show, will continue as planned.
This comes after the former host of the show, Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, served The Braai Show‘s production company, Cake Media and Makhuducom Media with a lawyer’s letter demanding half of all the proceeds received in relation to the show, in his capacity as a joint copyright owner, as well as “the appropriate production credit as executive producer of the show”.
His legal team, Tailor Made Legal Solutions, also demanded that the SABC “cease the scheduled airing of the show… as per the tweet disseminated on the SABC’s Twitter page on Monday 09 August 2021″, and agree to this demand within 48 hours or face legal action along with “a cost order on an attorney and client scale”.
This attempt to get the courts to intervene was unsuccessful as confirmed by the SABC in a recent statement.
“The SABC can confirm that the urgent application by Mr Kiernan Forbes to prevent the SABC from broadcasting the upcoming programme, The Braai Show, has been withdrawn and the public service broadcaster will proceed with broadcasting the show on Wednesday, 08 September 2021,” said the public broadcaster in a statement.
The statement comes just days after Nvoyest shared some promotional material for The Braai Show with Cassper via social media.
In season two, The Braai Show with Cassper will show Nyovest spending time around the fire preparing delicious meals with a line-up of guests such as comedian Mpho “Popps” Modikoane, DJ Sumbody, Limpopo-based vocalist and performer Makhadzi, 32-year-old businessman Lekau Sehaona, make-up artist and vlogger Mihlali Ndamase and many more.
The premiere episode of the new season will feature former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe titleholder Zozibini Tunzi.

Speaking on the DJ Venom and Banques’s YFM podcast, The Banques and Venom Show, Cassper announced that he was approached by SABC1 to be the new host of The Braai Show.
The Malome hitmaker also revealed that SABC1 could not pay him what he wanted so he, as well as the broadcaster, then agreed he would take the job only if he is allowed to promote his brands on the talk show.
The rapper also mentioned that he got himself an executive producer role on The Braai Show with Cassper, which means he will have a lot of input on the creative aspects of the show, as well putting his own spin on it.
He also said that he would be giving away a pair of his original Root of Fame 990 sneakers to viewers on every episode of the show.
Season two of The Braai Show with Cassper will premiere on Wednesday, 8 September 2021, and a new episode of the show will air every Wednesday at 6pm on SABC1.
