The school holidays are in full swing and many parents are wondering what they could do to keep their children entertained for the next three weeks.
If you not going on a holiday or have plenty of activities planned, streaming platform Showmax has created a watchlist for kids during the first term school break.
This list promises that mom and dad don’t scream with anguish during the next few weeks.

Paw Patrol
One of the most popular animated action adventures follows paw-somest pups in Adventure Bay.
Paw Patrol has won an Emmy and bagged 35 awards at the Nickelodeon awards.
Streaming from seasons one to eight, your kids can watch Ryder and the heroic pups – Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Skye, Rocky, Zuma, Everest and Tracker – as they jump in to save the day.
Paw Patrol: The Movie and the specials Mighty Pups and Ready, Race, Rescue! are also available on Showmax.
Nickelodeon’s Blaze and the Monster Machines
This show follows monster truck Blaze and his human friend AJ experience exciting challenges and adventures in Axle City.
Blaze and the Monster Machines is also a fantastic learning show. Friends like Darington and his sidekick, Stunt Kitty, cowgirl truck Starla, racer Stripes, dino-truck Zeg, and their trusty mechanic, Gabby – they’ll engage preschoolers in fun challenges that help build skills from a numerical sense and colour recognition to the basics of measurement, motion, friction, and simple machines.
Season one to six is on the streaming platform and on Nickelodeon DStv channel 305.
The Smeds and the Smoos
Support a locally created show called The Smeds and the Smoos by South Africans Daniel Snaddon and Samantha Cutler.
The alien animation is an adaption by South African Julia Smuts Louw from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s bestselling picture book of the same name.

It tells the story of two contesting families whose children, Bill and Janet, fall in love and run away together. Hotly pursued by their grandparents, Grandfather Smed (comedian Bill Bailey) and Grandmother Smoo (Adjoa Andoh from Bridgerton).
The two young aliens lead their families on a chase across space, giving them the opportunity to find out they have more in common than they think.
The Brilliant World of Tom Gates
Described as a brilliant show in the statement because it showcases drawing tutorials, and catchy songs to sing along with family and friends including things to make and do. With all of that, it follows the hilarious stories of 10-year-old Tom.
The story is based on best selling book series by Liz Pinchon which has been translated into 44 languages.
Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years
A classic for many including adults, the SpongeBob franchise is massive globally. Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years will go back in time to when the main character was 10 years old.
This is a significant time when SpongeBob and his friends spend their summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish, and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest!
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
This will be great for kids over the age of seven and for adults too. The Harry Potter realm is very popular and continues to grow.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is the third instalment in the Harry Potter prequel series. The movie is set several years after the events of The Crimes of Grindelwald (the second movie) and follows Newt Scamander and his partners, who are tasked by Professor Albus Dumbledore with a mission that takes them into the heart of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald’s army.
The cast is impressive it includes Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander and Oscar nominee Jude Law as Professor Albus Dumbledore, with the role of Grindelwald now played by BAFTA nominee Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) who replaces Johnny Depp.
