‘Isthembu is never the answer’: Viewers react to ‘uThando Nes’thembu’

Musa Mseleku wants his wives to be unified but each episode of 'uThando Nes'thembu' proves that his dream may be unrealistic.

Another episode of Mzansi’s most loved polygamy reality TV show, uThando Nes’thembu, has aired and the wives of the successful businessman and polygamist Musa Mseleku are still trying to navigate the problems they face as sister wives.

Last week’s episode saw tension between the four wives after they played a game which was meant to get them to communicate and open up more to each other.

Viewers were shocked at the way Musa’s second wife, MaYeni, behaved throughout the episode, and most took to social media to express how rude she was to the other wives.

Thursday night’s episode was no different. The episode started off with the wives seated at a dinner table sharing a meal together as an opportunity to discuss their problems and try to create unity, something Mseleku has desired since getting into the polygamous marriage.

The issues that arose during dinner was that there is a lot of gossip that happens between the wives, and when one sister wife is upset with the others, she does not address the issues she may have, resulting in her holding an unnecessary grudge towards the other wives.

Another issue that was addressed was how the wives do not share important information with each other directly, but have to get the information from their husband.

Mseleku’s third wife, MaKhumalo, suggested that the wives should get into the habit of sharing information pertaining to their specific families and children with each other directly, so that they are aware of any of the finer details which their husband tends to leave out when he is sharing information.

MaYeni was quick to disagree with MaKhumalo’s suggestion, and she said she will share important information with all of the wives on their WhatsApp group chat, because she simply does not want to inform each wife individually.

“I will not tell everyone individually. Why repeat something that has already been announced? I don’t see the need,” said MaYeni.

Responding to MaYeni’s statement, MaCele said she would not show up to any function or event that is held by MaYeni at her home if she did not share the information about the function with her directly.

“If there’s a function in Mzumbe and I don’t hear it from MaYeni, then I will not go there,” said MaCele.

The last issue that was addressed at dinner was the issue of MaNgwabe’s child being taken out of the shared transport and lift club, which all of the Mseleku children use to get to and from school on a daily basis.

When MaCele raised the issue, MaNgwabe said it was nothing personal and that she uses the opportunity to take her child to and from school for bonding.

Viewers of uThando Nes’thembu found it hard to believe MaNgwabe’s reason for taking her child out of the lift club, and most believe that the real reason may have something to do with the fact that MaKhumalo’s father is the man who drives the children to and from school.
