Loved him or hated him, Israel Matseke-Zulu – who plays the role of gangster Don – is leaving Mzansi Magic’s Gomora.
As viewers tuned into the character’s final days, Don’s charisma, cheesy one-liners, temper and his killing spree as he overtook MamSonto (Connie Chuene) hijacking business, quickly became old for some people.
Being introduced as Zodwa’s (Sannah Mchunu) long-lost lover and father of her son Teddy (Sicelo Buthelezi), Don came in as a new man trying to get to know his son and start a new life. But his gangster past and his other child quickly come back into the picture and the audience was taken on a rollercoaster ride for months.
On Wednesday night’s episode, Don discovered that MaZet (Siphesihle Ndaba), Ntokozo (Ntobeko Senzesihle Sishi) and Thathi (Katlego Danke) had betrayed him by faking a carjacking.
He made Ntokozo drive to the woods while pointing a gun at him but the plan was headed for a disaster. Fans know that MaZet loves Ntokozo so it is no surprise that she tried to protect him from his impending doom.
Don made Ntokozo start digging his own grave but the audience was unhappy with the writers of Gomora, as MaZet went along without her own gun.

Ntokozo’s parents, Melusi (Zolisa Xaluva) and Gladys (Thembi Seete), found out that their son was going to be killed and drove to the field, finding MaZet, Ntokozo and Don.
MaZet and Don wrestled for the gun and a shot went off, seemingly looking like MaZet had died.
Viewers shared their disdain for some holes in the storyline, particularly how long Don’s storyline was as they waited for the return of MamSonto.
It is an open secret that Don will be killed off on Thursday night but Matseke-Zulu’s acting has been applauded.
