Dr Mbali Mthethwa’s challenging experiences during her early days as an intern at Durban General Hospital (Durban Gen) have been the centre of an intriguing drama series that airs every early evening at 6:30pm on etv.
The show has captivated viewers with its gripping portrayal of the life and struggles of the young doctor and the show’s other cast members.
Regrettably, this coming week will mark the conclusion of Dr Mbali’s story, and viewers will have to bid farewell to the compelling character portrayed by actress and singer Nelisiwe Sibiya.

Viewers are not only bidding farewell to their beloved soap opera, but they will also have to endure the conclusion of The Black Door as it airs the final episodes of its first season.
‘Durban Gen’ comes to an end
The show’s storyline focused on Mbali, who falls in love with Dr Lindelani Zulu. Sadly, their union was complicated by the fact that Mbali was already in a committed relationship when they met and fell in love.
In the Durban Gen season finale, Mbali lost her husband and found love again with Dr Lindelani, but her journey tragically ended with her death. In an interesting twist, however, the doctor returned from the afterlife to reunite with her first love, Dr Lindelani.
