Tributes pour in for musician Marc Rantseli who has passed away

Mzansi woke up to the heartbreaking news of South African musician Marc Rantseli’s passing on Thursday morning. SABC news announced the muso’s death on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday morning.
According to a report by the news channel, Marc passed away at a Johannesburg hospital following a short illness.

Who was Marc Rantselli?
Marc and his brother, Alex, formed their own musical group, MarcAlex. The duo, who hailed from Diepkloof, Soweto, won the OKTV Awards for Best Newcomer in 1988 and their song Heartbreakin’ Love went to No 1 on the 5FM and Radio Metro charts.
In 1989, their hit song Quick Quick went to No 1 on the South African music charts.
Boys B Boys followed in 1990, with reworked versions of (some of) the original tunes appearing via ATCO Records and PWL Records that same year on their international and equally eponymous debut.
Marc also spent a few years working at the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (Samro) advocating for the rights of musicians in the country.
