Trevor Noah wins his first-ever Emmy Award

Trevor just keeps winning.

One of South Africa’s biggest exports, Trevor Noah, won his first Emmy Award this weekend. The comedian and The Daily Show host walked away with Best Short Form Variety Series for his YouTube special, The Daily Show: Between the Scenes, at the award’s Creative Arts ceremony.

This is not the first award Noah has won since taking over The Daily Show. He has received a GLAAD award for his work with The Daily Show, a NAACP Image Award, where he walked away with two awards for ‘Born a Crime’, winning the Literary Work category: Debut Author and Outstanding Literary Work Biography/Autobiography. In May, he won Best Host at the 2017 MTV Movie Awards.

In accepting the Golden Popcorn, Noah dedicated his award to his mother, Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah, a domestic violence survivor, saying in his speech: “She is a powerful, strong black woman who didn’t listen when they told me she couldn’t be more.”

Here is one of the most watched clips of his Between the Scenes feature, from an episode that made headlines for its comparisons of US President Donald Trump to our own Jacob Zuma:
