Trevor Noah trolls Oscars with Xhosa in-joke

Daily Show host Trevor Noah opted to have some fun at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood when he was called up to present an award.

Black Panther won three Oscars, including best original score, and Noah joked about how people greet him sometimes by saying “Wakanda Forever”, while apparently many think it’s a real place in Africa.

He then offered the audience a phrase in isiXhosa, “Abelungu abazi uba ndiyaxoka”, which means “White people don’t know I’m lying.”

Noah told his audience that what he was actually saying was: “In times like these, we are stronger when we fight together than when we try to fight apart.”

He was struggling to keep a straight face as he delivered the gag.

Twitter loved the joke. Mzansi forever!
