If you’re a Star Wars fan, chances are you’ve booked May the 4th off because, as you’ll know, it’s International Star Wars Day.
The Lucasfilm faithful take the day to celebrate the characters, stories and lore set in a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Cosplayers break out their Jedi robes, gamers boot up some console and PC classics and Rebel Scum and Imperial Forces alike settle in to enjoy the films for an evening.
Whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not, it’s more than likely you know someone who is. So why not brighten their (or your) day by picking up a Star Wars-themed gift? If you’re stuck for ideas, we have you covered – have a gander below:
Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Blu Ray
If you haven’t yet seen the latest instalment of the new Star Wars trilogy, The Last Jedi, you’ll know it’s off-circuit and you missed your chance at a bigscreen viewing.
However, if you have a decent flatscreen TV at home and a way of play Blu Ray DVDs, this is very well worth picking up. It’s a must-have for Star Wars Completionists.

Standing at 5″ high, 18″ long and 12″ wide, the LEGO Millennium Falcon, features a detachable cockpit, spring loaded shooters, a detailed interior that can be examined by lifting the roof flaps and eight figurines. Porg Funko Pop
The Porgs are the cutest creatures ever created for a Star Wars film – yes, that includes the Ewoks – and the fact that there’s oodles of Porgs merchandise available should surprise no one.
Funko Pop creates cute little replicas of some of the most recognisable characters in pop culture. With its Porg Funko Pop, it raises cuteness to an almost weaponised level.
Star Wars: Battlefront II
One of the biggest game releases last year, Star Wars: Battlefront II came in for some sharp criticism over microtransactions at launch. Thankfully, these have been stripped out – you can only pay for cosmetic stuff now – and what’s left is a rather good game.
Whether you’re after a multiplayer fragfest, a dogfight using Star Wars spacefighters or you want a solo campaign, this is a game that should satisfy any Star Wars fan.
Death Star Kitchen Timer
Take your love of the Empire into the kitchen. With this Death Star timer, you can clock the progress of your cooking for up to an hour, and not only does it light up, when the timer’s done you’ll hear the sound of the Death Star’s super laser.
Come on, you know you want one!
Watch a special screening of Empire Of Dreams: The Making Of Star Wars
The first three Star Wars changed the face of cinema. Not only were they incredible box-office hits, they had an undeniable influence on the way films after them were made.
On top of that, their cultural impact is immeasurable. Empire Of Dreams: The Making Of Star Wars documents the making of these three films and how they started from a sci-fi morality tale to become a global phenomenon. If this sounds like your bag, head over to the Bioscope in Maboneng Precinct this May 4th.
Finally, its worth marking your calendars for Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th). Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but they’re sure to sell out for opening night quick.
