Strict rules at Da L.E.S’ all white party (gallery)

What happens when a rapper throws an exclusive pool party in the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg?

Everybody tries to get in. This is exactly what happened when Da L.E.S (Lesley Mampe) threw his 6th annual All White Party last weekend. The dress code was strictly all-white and guests who arrived dressed in any other colour were turned away at the gates.

“The all-white parties started as a small event that I used to host at the end of the year,” said Da L.E.S. “Now it’s become a really important yearly social event. But no amount of money can get you into the exclusive party,” explains Da L.E.S who also calls himself “The king of the North”.

“The party has always been invitation only.”

“It’s all about who you know,” he says with a laugh. “At the end of the day, all the important people get in.”

Da L.E.S’ VIP guests included rapper AKA (Kiernan Forbes), television presenter Bonang Matheba, business women Shashi Naidoo and Khanyi Mbau.

This was Da L.E.S’ first event sponsored by premium vodka brand, Ciroc. Da L.E.S is one of the four local celebrities who are Ciroc ambassadors. The event was previously hosted by rival vodka brand, Grey Goose.

“We definitely have the right vodka brand this time,” says Da L.E.S who signed what is rumoured to be a lucrative deal with Ciroc in October last year.

Da L.E.S performed All Eyes On Me with AKA and Burna Boy before heading off to the official after-party at Taboo nightclub in Sandton.
