Six groups, which were chosen by the task team at theatre festivals hosted in Gauteng, will have the opportunity to showcase their works at the Soweto theatre on Sunday October 5 from 9am to 7pm.
By using existing facilities with a professional stage and lightning, the programme ensures optimal use of resources while creating opportunities for youngsters to further develop their careers.
Theatre practitioners were chosen based on their production value or those who have made a positive impact fighting against social issues in our society using drama as a means of communication. Shows to be showcased are Table Manners, One Day I’ll be back, Secrete, Tera and Unomadlozi and these will cover themes such as women and child abuse, drug abuse, HIV/ AIDS, substance abuse and political affairs.
This years’ event will also feature the Abafazi Marimba band who have travelled the world playing the Marimba instruments. The day will be a celebration of theatre, dance and song.
Tickets are R40 per person and R30 for students and pensioners
