Fans, friends, and family of newlyweds Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung have three months to recover from the festivities of their traditional African wedding and budget for their upcoming white wedding, which will be happening in January 2020.
The date was confirmed by the couple’s close friend, media mogul Basetsana Kumalo.
In a heartfelt message to the pair expressing her regret for having missed their traditional ceremony, Kumalo conveyed her congratulations and promised to be there for the “white mshado” in January.
Kumalo’s message read: “On matters of national importance, a hearty and warm congratulations to my darling Bazala @somizi Skeem sam’ sakudala on your traditional wedding on Saturday, you and @mohale_77 are my family. Thank you for letting me into your lives. I was with you both in spirit and said a special prayer for you on your wedding day. Your posts made me feel like I was there. As promised I will be there for the ‘white mshado’ in January. No one is running races ????????
“I love you both so very much, you biscuits!❤️❤️ Your traditional wedding was beyond spectacular. You did it in true #Somhale style!!???????????????? I will see you when I get back home my loves. ????????#somhaletraditionalwedding.”
“We love u. We missed u. See u at yo book launch (sic),” replied Somizi.
After proposing to Motaung in March 2018, Mhlongo officially took Motaung as his husband in a traditional wedding ceremony held at Motaung’s family home in Kibler Park at the weekend.
While the have been met with ore and resistance from homophobes across the nation, there has been an overwhelming show of support for the lovebirds.
They have both been posting glimpses into their wedded bliss on social media like this post in which Mhlongo refers to them as “Mr Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung and Mr Mohale Motaung-Mhlongo”. This is presumably as an answer to those who have been asking who will adopt whose surname in the marriage.
