‘Rivals’ to face off on red carpet

There is bound to be intense competition tomorrow as Mzansi’s top celebrities gather at the Durban International Convention Centre for the 22nd SA Music Awards (Samas). But the competition will not only be about who wins which award. The battle will probably start on the red carpet, were alleged rivals Bonang “Queen B” Matheba and Minnie Dlamini will both be hosting shows.

Matheba covers the event for SABC1, while Dlamini will be there with presenter Katlego Maboe for E! Entertainment Africa.

“Viewers can expect a great delivery as usual and a wonderful production,” Matheba told The Citizen. Bringing all the action to her viewers before the main ceremony, Queen B will be dressed by international celebrity stylist Lawrence Roach who has worked with numerous Hollywood stars.

Dlamini will be wearing an outfit by local designer Gert-Johan Coetzee and joined by popular radio and TV presenters Pearl Modiadie and Lunga Shabalala. “E! Entertainment is trying to do things different. This is very exciting and glitzy. Minnie will bring her normal Minnie charm and wow effect,” explained Dlamini’s publicist Jarred Doyle. Dlamini will be back in the saddle on the red carpet show just days after hosting the PSL Awards.

Watch the red carpet coverage at 7.30pm and the live awards ceremony at 8pm on SABC1 on Saturday.
