Technically speaking this is a remake of a remake, as Capcom will be giving the former Gamecube exclusive 2002 “REmake” the HD treatment rather than the 1996 PlayStation 1 original. The classic controls will remain intact, but Capcom will be adding in a modern variation as well. Aside from textures getting an HD upscaling and sound being reworked into 5.1 surround, Capcom is choosing to add little else to the game in order to maintain the original’s legacy.
The downloadable remake will be released in Japan towards the beginning of 2015 on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It’ll run at 1080p on new consoles and 720p on previous generation hardware. You’ll also be able to switch between classic 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios. We’ll update as soon as we know whether or not this will be seen in the West.
