Gone Too Soon is a great musical tribute to the music legends we all loved and who died way before their time, but live on through their music.
The show at Gold Reef City is set to delight audiences – old and young – as they celebrate powerhouse singers who made names for themselves through their music over the past decades.
Be transported on an unforgettable journey of nostalgia as homage is paid to a diverse selection of greats including Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Freddie Mercury, Luther Vandross, George Michael, Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Prince, Amy Winehouse, Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, John Lennon and many more.
South African artists, including Brenda Fassie and Mandoza, will also be featured.
While the show pays homage to music icons, the focus will also be on the uplifting atmosphere of inspiration that they continued to live through their music, the memories they still evoke, as well
as the impact that they have made on the industry and the world.
Collett Dawson, executive producer at The CoLab Network, says: “I wanted Gone Too Soon to pay loving tribute to some incredibly talented musicians, who, while they are not with us physically today, continue to be with us in the music they left behind.
“These artists have helped contribute to the DNA of the music we hear today. They have left a powerful musical legacy, uniting people from all age groups and races through their music.
“We all have so many memories linked to specific songs or artists that have woven a tapestry throughout our lives, so my aim with this concert is for the audience to sit back and listen, or to get up and dance.”
Three of South Africa’s most talented vocalists – Mariechan (of Jamali and Popstars fame), Timothy Moloi, and Joseph Clark – will set the stage alight performing the instantly recognisable hits.
An exciting collaboration is the inclusion of the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra, conducted by Eddie Clayton, celebrating their 20th anniversary for the two-hour extravaganza. Gone Too Soon is the ideal concert experience for young and old music lovers to celebrate the magic these music greats left behind.
