The rapper and Idols SA presenter will treat fans to a live performance of his latest work. Supporting DJs include Slabofmisuse, DJ White Nite, Dreezy, Desert Head and DJ Lyle. ProVerb recently celebrated 10 years in the music industry.
He simultaneously launched The Read Tape to great acclaim at the Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg on March 4 – the same date he launched his first album, The Book of ProVerb, in 2005.
At his Cape Town performance, fans can expect to hear performances of old-school Thekisho classics, as well as songs from The Read Tape. “I’m excited to finally showcase my latest offering to my Cape Town fans and to show the Mother City some love,” said ProVerb.
“Cape Town is the next stop on the countrywide Books’Tour [a play on book store] and I’m virtually painting the town Read [red],” says ProVerb. Although the title of his latest album springs from the idiom “red tape”, referring to restriction, limitation or rigid conformity, The Read Tape is anything but unyielding.
This wordsmith knows no boundaries. “Cape Town can look forward to punchlines, metaphors, similes, lyrical wizardry, poetry, thought-provoking content flows, interesting and refreshing production that will satisfy purists and the new school,” said Thekisho. “I love performing in Cape Town. The hip-hop culture is rich and the Mother City loves to rock.”
