Our Perfect Wedding host’s ‘shocking’ salary revealed
Our Perfect Wedding is one of SA’s most popular reality shows, and trends just about every time it airs.

But despite its popularity, it seems new host Kayise Ngqula can expect to get paid “peanuts”.
Popular entertainment blogger Phil Mphela took to Twitter this week to share a thread about the “shocking” salaries hosts of the show get paid.
He revealed that the presenters – depending on their experience – could earn R12 000 per episode.
“Ever wondered how much the presenters on the no.1 show on DStv earn? They earn around R12 500 per episode for a four-day work of at least 18 hours and no overtime pay. That’s R3k per day. The new host might earn even less,” he tweeted.

It may seem like a lot of money for the average South African citizen, but according to Phil that’s “peanuts” by industry standards – especially when you consider things like tax, and agents’ fees.

Phil added that Kayise could be earning much less, as she is new in the industry.
“There reason why I say Kayise, the new presenter from the OPWPresenterSearch, might earn less, is because of the archaic salary system we still use in SA – where talent is paid by experience (how long they’ve been around) in the industry not what they bring to the show,” he tweeted.

The blogger signed off his thread by saying he detested the industry’s salary system.
“I believe talent should be paid based on what they contribute to the bottomline of the show not on how long they have been in the industry.”
I personally detest that salary system. I believe talent should be paid based on what they contribute to the bottomline of the show not on how long they have been in the industry.
I wrote a blog about it …https://t.co/SbWPa5EGiG
