UDM leader Bantubonke Holomisa showed us his fun side in a recent interview on Trending SA when, among others, he reprimanded presenter Kuli Roberts after she said he was handsome.
Roberts asked Holomisa why, as “handsome” as he was, he decided to join the army, and it was clear the general was not expecting the presenter’s comments, calling her to order.
“Order, order, comrade!” blushing Holomisa told Roberts, as the group laughed about it.
“I wanted to be fit, play rugby and get Transkei colours, but I ended up in the army. But in the army there was a career which I had to follow and then I gave up on sport and I focused on studying in the military,” he added.
Holomisa also addressed calls for him to go back to the ANC, saying in not so many words that it would never happen.
“ANC is an important political party in this country, and it has a rich history, but for me to dump people who met me when I was in political limbo and all of a sudden you dangle a carrot to me: ‘I’ll make you a minister.’ It’s not a big deal to be a minister, I’ve tasted power at the highest level, now I’m contributing to developing this country,” he said.
Holomisa further said South Africa did not need one party ruling anymore, as this bred corruption.
“I hope that 2019, there will be coalitions at national level,” he said.
