Tickets went on sale this morning at 9am and within 20 minutes enough tickets were sold to book out one stadium. Reportedly golden circle tickets were sold out within less than nine minutes of ticket sales opening.
Fans have taken to social media, reporting that they have slept outside ticketing stations, spending more than 17 hours waiting for their chance to lay their hand on a concert ticket.
Justin van Wyk the Managing director of Big Concerts who are hosting the tour, has said that the sales are massive and tickets are flying.
He was unable to give an indication of how many tickets have been sold thus far, as they are using three different ticketing systems.
Fans have also complained about computicket being down and have vented their frustrations on twitter.
Van Wyk has said there have been no major issues reported, but there will be sporadic downtime with so many people trying to get their hands on a ticket.
“There are small niggles, but it is much faster than it was before. We have over 30 engineers around the world just working on making sure the ticket sales run smoothly,” said van Wyk.
One Direction will play three shows, two at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg and one at the Cape Town stadium.
There well over 100 000 tickets, which are expected to be all sold out.
