‘Mrs Right Guy’ set to get audiences swooning

A tonic for the lovelorn this autumn comes in the form of the highly anticipated romcom Mrs Right Guy, which opens in cinemas countrywide on May 27. The film stars Dineo Moeketsi as the lovelorn Gugu Hlatshwayo.

Mrs Right Guy starts with Gugu’s tale of woe when she is left destitute and broken-hearted on an island paradise on her honeymoon. Back home and cynical about love, Gugu meets two eligible young men, serial seducer Dumile (Thapelo Mokoena) and regular good guy Joe (Lehasa Moloi). One is a sure-fire way to heartbreak, and the other a guaranteed ticket to true love and happiness. Will she continue to reject love long before it can hurt her or will she ensure she lands the man she deserves? How will she become “Mrs Right Guy”?

“Dineo is one of the one of the hottest properties on the SA entertainment scene at the moment,” says director Adze Ugah. “Not only is she a talented presenter, but she was also the face of music magazine show O-Access. Mrs Right Guy is the perfect vehicle for her big screen debut. It’s also a fun, escapist comedy about the pitfalls of romance and the challenges facing the contemporary single woman.”

Moeketsi has appeared in a number of theatre productions including Grease, The Fifth Floor and 66676, and starred in the role of Lindiwe in the SABC1 youth drama series Soul City in 2010. In 2014 she co-hosted (with Shugasmakx) the Mzansi Magic reality series My Perfect Proposal. She currently appears as Naledi in the e.tv soap Scandal.

Mrs Right Guy was funded by the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), in association with the Gauteng Film Commission, the department of trade and industry and with support from the KZN Film Commission. A Fuze Films production, the film was produced by Dumi Gumbi, Khethiwe Ngcobo, Mokopi Shale and Cati Weinek. The film is being distributed in South Africa by Indigenous Film Distribution.
