Movie Review: The House Of Magic

Belgian production The House Of Magic is a simple but well-made animated tale for kids.

It’s too basic to be competitive with the likes of Frozen or the average Pixar project, but the imagery is wonderful and the characters likeable enough to engage those looking for simple thrills.

The piece concerns an abandoned cat who wanders into the house of an eccentric elderly magician and is faced with the challenges of fitting in with the motley crew of creatures he finds there in order to avoid ending up on the street again.

Characters include talking rabbits, mice and pigeons, as well as a number of toys and gadgets brought to life by the magician.

The House Of Magic is an enjoyable fable about the value of friendship and generosity and how destructive greed can be. It’s a good, safe option to take the kids to.
