Meet the Big Brother Africa Hotshots housemates (videos)

Starting from 18 September, M-Net and series producers Endemol SA will be unveiling the names of three Big Brother housemates a day leading up to the launch of the series on 5 October.

According to a statement on the website, the new Big Brother house in Johannesburg is in the process of being designed and fitted with cutting edge camera equipment and broadcast technology. A new venue had to be found after a fire postponed the original launch.

Meet the first three housemates:

Ellah

The feisty Ellah is the reigning Miss Uganda and she promises Africa a “cocktail of personality” with a rough edge.

Alusa

Alusa, by his own definition is an “extrovert with discretion”, who promises viewers that coming into the Hotshots house as himself is enough entertainment.

Butterphly

The bubbly Butterphly embraces her inner celebrity and can’t wait for Africa to meet her. The ambitious Zimbabwean hopes to make herself endearing in a way that audiences can’t help but want to keep her in the Hotshots house.

Esther

With her sparkling personality, Esther from Uganda looks set to shine inside the Big Brother house. She says she’s very funny and can make people laugh.

Goitse

Goitse is from Botswana and she’s “happy to entertain you.” With a street-smart fashion style and a personality she describes as “vibrant, bold and outgoing,” she is sure to be another exciting addition to the house.

Idris

Idris is a photographer from Tanzania, filled with positive energy. He admits to having a strategy, hoping that his fellow housemates will turn to him “when they want to be inspired or when they feel down.”

JJ

JJ prefers the company of ladies and has had his heart broken a couple of times. The charming Zimbabwean enjoys cooking and for his strategy he will choose to let his personality entertain viewers.

Kacey Moore

Kacey Moore promises to take Big Brother Hotshots to a new level with a strategy he calls a “secret strategy”. The Ghanaian is annoyed by late-comers and prefers to steer clear of confrontation.

Laveda

Bubbly Tanzanian Laveda tells us her alter-ego is a go-getter. Her personal motto is to “live everyday like it were it is your last.”

Luis

He has a six pack, is fashionable and in with the trends. He says he knows exactly when to wear his vests and when to suit up. His phobia include needles, snakes and gaining weight.

Lilian

Sexy Lily, as she refers to herself, prefers chilling with the boys. She says housemates will like her because she’s very friendly and knows how to make people happy. She also says she can be very annoying too.

Ma’m Bea

Bubbly and patient, this Ghanaian lass is into cooking and sketching and really loves dressing up. She says the housemates will definitely love her cooking skills and friendliness.

Mr. 265

Outgoing and energetic, if he had the chance he would ask Biggie if he can stand the heat. However, he says he can put on quite a show for the ladies and challenges Africa to just stay tuned.

Mira

Though she’s self-conscious about her ‘big feet’, Mira loves her face and smile. Her alter-ego Miss Kiki is fierce, intelligent and very confident. She has been told she looks like Gabrielle Union.

Macky2

The guy with a sense of humour who doesn’t crack jokes. He points out his over-confidence and being self-centered as his worst traits and swears never to gossip, fight or have a romantic relationship in the house.

Resa

Zambian redhead Resa says her motto is “close to perfect” because close is good enough. She is going to miss her boyfriends hugs and may just impress fellow housemates with her cooking.

Permithias

Permithias is proud to be Namibian because of the unity back home. Were he an animal he’d be a horse with wings because he values freedom. He is a well spoken and rounded person and reckons fellow housemates may view him as a threat for that.

Nhlanhla

Nhanhla thinks of himself as both street and book-smart. He has an alter-ego for his wild side and his strategy is to approach things as you would a game of chess; to use people, their strengths and weaknesses as pawns in his rise to the top.

Sheilla

Vintage clothing lover Sheila prefers beauty over brains because beauty radiates a positive character. She loves her derriere and calls a spade a spade.

Samantha

Samantha looks up to her younger sister and can switch from one extreme to another during conflict. For a superpower in the house she would like to hope to disappear and be a fly on the wall for a couple of moments.

Sabina

Kenyan Sabina struggles to find a balance in conflict and she would be open to finding love in the house. She promises viewers a variety of personalities because she is the Hotshot.

Trezagah

Trezagah is convinced that his constant happiness and playful mood will excite his housemates. He admits though, that he can also be reserved at times, which could rub them the wrong way.

Arthur

Arthur has mixed feelings about being the first Rwandan on the show. He says he loves eyes so he’s intrigued by eye contact.

Frankie

Frankie gets along with both sexes and sees no point in lying about his age. He says being one of the first Rwandans to be on the show is “tremendously incredible.”

Sipe

If she could be an animal, she would be a lion because it’s a king, and so is she. Though her heart was broken by her ex-boyfriend, she’s broken quite a few too.

Tayo

Pleasant surprises may reduce him to tears but Tayo is not prepared to cheat on his girl with anyone in the Big Brother house. He’s happy with his body so he wouldn’t want to swap his with anyone.

Big Brother Hotshots launches on 5 October at 7pm on AfricaMagic DStv Channel 150.
