MasterChef SA contestant dies of heart attack
One of the more popular contestants on the local version of MasterChef died on Monday morning from an apparent heart attack.

Sarel Loots, better known as Sarel van Sabie, competed in MasterChef SA in 2012 and was well known in the local cooking circles, regularly sharing recipes on his Facebook profile like the one below.
As news spread of his death, his fans flooded his facebook page with condolences:
Gloria Bohdanowicz posted: “So sad, may you create master pieces in God’s Garden of Eden.
“With Great Loss we heard of your passing this morning. Big Loss to many. Deepest Sympathies to your family and loved ones, (sic)” Llewellyn Sharon Trask wrote.
Pearl Mokoena wrote: “So sad may his soul rest in eternal peace” while Emree Makhathini added, “RIP Sarel we the food lovers will dearly miss you!”
In addition to MasterChef SA, Loots also appeared on kykNET’s Cookie-cooking program.
He leaves behind his wife Liza and his five children.
