Mandisi has spearheaded several notable campaigns, including a recent one that raised over R300k.

Social media personality Mandisi Tshingana has been awarded the Humanitarian Award at the 2025 Emerge Africa Awards.

The Emerge Africa Awards shines a spotlight on Africa’s unsung heroes—individuals and organisations whose tireless contributions to society often go unnoticed.

The 2025 awards edition was held this past weekend at the Premier Hotel in Midrand, Gauteng.

Tshingana was nominated alongside other changemakers, including Dr Phophi Ramabulana, Angie Sekonyela, Andisiwe Fakude, and Ask Nomthi.

He dedicated the award to his family, friends, and online community, who have stood by him.

“This moment is not just about me; it is a celebration of the power of community, compassion, and collective action.

“This award belongs as much to the people who have supported me as it does to me,” he wrote on Instagram.

Mandisi Tshingana: ‘Umntu ngumntu ngabantu’

Tshingana has spearheaded several notable campaigns, including a recent one that raised over R100,000 for actress Brenda Ngxoli following distressing videos she posted on social media.

He is currently leading a donation drive for former Big Brother Mzansi contestant Uyanda Hlangabezo. A few days ago, Tshingana announced that the campaign had reached R300,000 of its R500,000 goal.

“The overwhelming response embodies the spirit of ubuntu — a reminder that umntu ngumntu ngabantu [a person is a person through other people].

“Let us continue fostering communities where compassion and solidarity thrive,” he said.

Tshingana also emphasised the role of social media and its ability to bring about meaningful, real-world change.

“Social media has been a powerful tool in this journey, allowing us to connect across borders and unite for causes bigger than ourselves. It has shown me that even in a digital space, we can create real-world change.

“I want to encourage each of you to never underestimate the impact of small acts of kindness. Whether it’s donating to a cause, sharing a message of hope, or simply being there for someone in need — your actions matter.”
