South Africans were thrilled early in October as news broke that satirical news show ‘Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola’ had been nominated for an Emmy Award in the comedy category, but Loyiso unfortunately returned home empty-handed after missing out to the Chris O’Dowd-written comedy ‘Moone Boy’.

Graciously accepting defeat, Loyiso tweeted: “The winner in the Emmy international Comedy category is Moone Boy. Thank you all for the love and support. Party time!”

Amped to celebrate this impressive milestone in his career, he later added: “Emmy after party issss ooooon”

He also wrote that “New York is cold” and was clearly having a great time, sharing that “NEW YORK IS THE SHIT” and also retweeting a photo of himself arriving on the red carpet, looking dapper in his suit.

‘Masterchef SA’ was also up for an Emmy in the Non-Scripted Entertainment category, but unfortunately lost out to Australia’s ‘Go Back To Where You Came From’.
