Paying homage to all breast cancer survivors and fighters during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, entrepreneur Gugu Nkabinde, of Gugu Intimates, hosted an intimate brunch for 20 ladies at an exclusive boutique hotel, The View, overlooking Johannesburg’s iconic skyline.
Local female undergarments brand Gugu Intimates joins the global health and fitness organisations in raising breast cancer awareness in the developing world.
In an effort to drive awareness around breast health and getting the right bra fit, Gugu Intimates challenged a few celebrities and the public to get measured and checked in a social media campaign called #guessmybrasize.
Guests were then invited to attend a brunch, where the founder and CEO of Gugu Intimates spoke passionately about why it was important for brands like hers – of African origin – to encourage the conversation on breast health.
Choosing to be more hands-on when relating customer satisfaction, Nkabinde also personally measured each guest, explaining how a well-fitting bra was a crucial part of maintaining your breast health.
Some guests and VIPs were surprised to learn that they were wearing the wrong bra size.
International model Rosette Ncwana exclaimed: “I thought I was a 34B for years!” after learning she’s in fact a 32C.
Following Ncwana’s bust size reveal, Nkabinde added: “Measuring your cup size and getting the right size heightens your sensitivity and awareness of any sudden changes or abnormalities that may otherwise go undetected when experiencing discomfort due to an incorrect bra size.”
