“To Lira’s beloved fans, clients, and associates: As Lira’s family, we would like to take this opportunity to share some recent developments regarding Lira’s health. Lira recently traveled to Germany for performance but unfortunately suffered a stroke whilst there,” reads the statement.
“As a result, her ability to communicate, in particular, her speech, has been impacted.”

“Her medical team has advised that her journey to recovery will require patience and therefore, it is unlikely that she will be able to perform in the short term.
“That said, Lira is in good spirits and is surrounded by her loving family and close friends as she journeys towards a full recovery. “
Last month the musician joined forces with explorer and humanitarian Kingsley Holgate, and former rugby player Bryan Habana to deliver food packages to struggling South Africans.
The three along with Kingsley’s son, Ross Holgate, delivered food parcels to an early childhood development centre in Thembisa, Johannesburg.
Lira and Habana are Land Rover ambassador’s, along with the 76-year-old explorer.
“It’s a privilege to use my role as a Land Rover ambassador to give back, and I’m honoured to have joined Kingsley and his team for part of his latest expedition,” former Springbok player, Habana said on Monday.
Holgate aims to deliver at least 2 million meals in South Africa.
