Speaking at the music video shoot for the hit single, Khumalo said the song came about while travelling between her many performances, at a time when she was facing major scrutiny from the media and the public.
The singer has since managed to turn her life around and gain trust from her fans with her fourth album, My Truth, which later saw her walk away with the Best Female Artist award at this year’s South African Music Awards.
Through Themba, Khumalo seeks to reassure women of their powerful roles in society as well as to celebrate women’s cultural milestones that hardly ever make headlines.
