Humility creates quality – Noeleen Maholwana-Sangqu

As Noeleen Maholwana-Sangqu, who became a household name on SABC's 3 Talk show, prepares to leave the show, she cites humility as the key to producing quality work.

Just three days before her farewell party, Maholwana-Sangqu said a presenter needed to “stay humble and true to yourself.

“The show is not about you, it’s about the person you are interviewing. I am interested in the guest and don’t tell me about how fabulous you are – the viewers will decide how fabulous you are.”

She emphasised new presenters should not attempt to emulate others. “If you believe in yourself, go for it. You can’t be someone else, you have to be you,” she said.

Maholwana-Sangqu joined the 3 Talk team 12 years ago and her show will go off the air today.

Asked about her future plans she said: “I am going to do absolutely nothing … I want to look after my family, I want to be called a housewife and it may last two days, a week or year, I don’t know.”

The 47-year-old is a mother of three.
