Mafikeng’s favourite musical son, Hip Hop Pantsula (aka Jabulani Tsambo) takes to the stage in his home province as the host of the XXI Annual South African Music Awards.
The internationally acclaimed Motswako rapper will be keeping the Superbowl audience and television viewers entertained between performances and awards presentations at the glittery ceremony, and what makes the occasion particularly special is that the Mafikeng-born musician will be doing so in his home province, the North West.
The awards have been without a host for two years (previous hosts include none other than Trevor Noah, who has just landed a plum gig hosting The Daily Show in the United States), but HHP is no stranger to charming television viewers, having won the third season of the reality dance show Strictly Come Dancing.
It’s fitting that someone who has made such a rich contribution to the South African music scene (not to mention outside our borders, having snagged a coveted MTV Africa Music Award for Best Video in 2009) has been chosen to host South Africa’s most prestigious music awards event.
The celebrity goodie bags are sure to be almost as sought after as the SAMA trophies themselves as they are worth R3 million.
These exclusive goodie bags will be handed out to the onstage presenters and live performers at the awards, taking place at Sun City on Sunday, 19 April 2015.
Each goodie bag will include:
That sure is a goodie bag of note and hopefully the celebrities who will get it will distribute the goods accordingly.
Catch HHP on stage at the XXI Annual South African Music Awards on Sunday, 19 April 2015, broadcast live from the Sun City Superbowl on SABC1 from 20h00.
