Grammy Award winner right here at home

Nothing makes a South African prouder than seeing another South African doing well. And South Africa is beaming with pride, thanks to Wouter Kellerman, who is bringing the best new age album trophy home from the recent Grammys held in Los Angeles.

Kellerman, who recorded the album Winds of Samsara with Indian composer Ricky Rej was inspired by Gandhi and Nelson Mandela. The two-time SAMA winning flute player was born in Johannesburg and his albums have been released in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia and most recently, in the US. Winds of Samsara reached number 1 on the Billboard Chart for New Age Album. Highlights of Kelleman’s career include performing at the closing ceremony of the 2010 Soccer World Cup and performing at the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC in 2012.

His works have been used on the Emmy award-winning film, Eye of the Leopard. The musician has travelled extensively over the last few years, performing around the globe in places like Berlin, Shanghai, New

York and Sydney and most recently, at a sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Grammy® Museum in LA. He has sponsored the living expenses of ten children in the SOS Children’s Villages.
