In what has been called one of the most watched seasons of the popular reality talent show, 26-year-old Musa from eMalahleni beat runner up Brenden Ledwaba from Graskop by just 1000 of the more than 2 million votes cast by the SA public.
After being announced the winner, the stunned new Idol said: “I’m beyond overwhelmed, I’m speechless right now.”
Musa used to sing in restaurants before trying his luck on the reality show. Earlier in the competition he said: “I entered Idols for the experience – all I’ve known was gigging and I wanted to see ‘how the other half lives’!”
As the winner of the ninth season of ‘Idols SA’, Musa walks away with R350 000 cash, a Ford Fiesta, and a record deal with Universal Music.
