Former Generations actors launch rival show

The wait is finally over. Some of our favourite actors are back on TV.


E.tv has revealed that fired Generations actors Nambitha Mpumlwana, Zenande Mfenyana and Maggie Benedict are part of the channel’s new telenovela Ashes to Ashes. The show will premiere on e.tv on the 2nd of March and will air from Mondays to Thursdays at 8pm.

“I’m very excited about Ashes to Ashes,” says Mfenyana. “People are going to see me in a way that they have never seen me before.” Mfenyana plays “Reba”, a humble and loving character with a strong presence.

Speaking on the dispute with the Generations producers which led to her being fired, Mfenyana says she has no regrets.

“The whole thing could have been handled better. We could have reached a consensus a long time ago. But now we have to move on, I have bills to pay.”

Head of e.tv Channels Division, Monde Twala couldn’t say how many of the sixteen fired Generations actors would be appearing on the show.

According to e.tv website, Ashes to Ashes is a thrilling drama about a family which is involved in the business of funerals.

“In Mzansi funerals mean big business. From the competition with the casket, the fancy cars, the red carpet, the catering and the couture. So far death has been good to the Namane family who the popular and prosperous Namane Funerals. But their luck is about to run out with the arrival of an estranged family member and a dark secret.”
