Four movies coming soon to theatres

The stellar cast of family drama What They Had includes Hilary Swank and Michael Shannon, Can You Ever Forgive Me? places comedian Melissa McCarthy in a more serious role than usual, and actor Jonah Hill makes his directorial debut with skateboarding and coming of age pic Mid90s.

Halloween

Story: It might have been 40 years (and 10 franchise movies) since the first Halloween horror but there’s still time for original heroine Laurie Strode, now supremely well-prepared, to have a final reckoning with masked serial murderer Michael Myers in this sequel-reboot.

Starring: Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak.

What They Had

Story: Bridget moves back home to help her cynical brother and optimistic father take care of her aging mother who is suffering from memory loss.

Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Story: Once-successful writer Lee Israel discovers that people will pay for letters from famous authors — and that she can turn underappreciated talents to the risky business of forging more.

Mid90s

Story: Thirteen-year-old teenager Stevie finds an escape from an unpleasant home life when he makes friends with a bunch of older boys who are into skateboarding.

Starring: Sunny Suljic, Lucas Hedges, skateboarders Olan Prenatt and Na-kel Smith.
