It’s been a year since Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa introduced government-issued flavoured condoms and brought the new Max condoms with him to the National Assembly to demonstrate how they work.
“The Max is for maximum pleasure, maximum protection, and it … it comes in different flavours. If you want grape flavour, you can get a grape flavour. If you want an apple flavour, you can get an apple flavour,” he said during the demonstration.
He urged members of parliament to use Max condoms to prevent new HIV infections and unwanted pregnancies.
Some members from the opposition benches yelled: “Give that to Zuma!” while MP Thoko Didiza couldn’t contain her laughter.
As journalist Lester Kiewit said, that was the day Ramaphosa made South Africa great, or ‘grape’, again.
