The Good Liar
Career con artist Roy Courtnay (Ian McKellen) can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish (Helen Mirren) online.
As Betty opens her life and home to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life.
Directed and co-produced by Bill Condon and written by Jeffrey Hatcher. Based on the novel by Nicholas Searle.
21 Bridges
The film follows an embattled NYPD detective (Chadwick Boseman), who is thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers after uncovering a conspiracy.
As the night unfolds, lines become blurred on who he is pursuing, and who is in pursuit of him. When the search intensifies, extreme measures are taken to prevent the killers from escaping Manhattan as the authorities close all 21 bridges to the iconic island.
Directed by Brian Kirk from a screenplay by Matthew Carnahan and Adam Mervis.
Knives Out
Wealthy crime novelist Harlan Thrombey invites his extended dysfunctional family to his remote mansion on his 85th birthday in hopes of reuniting them.
However, the day after the birthday party, Harlan is found dead by members of the family and experienced detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is called in to investigate the case. Soon enough, everyone in the family becomes a suspect in his death.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson.
