e.tv pulls out of Royalty Soapie Awards
When the Royalty Soapie Awards were launched in April the move was lauded as a much-needed boost for the SA soap opera industry as a whole.

But this lovely initiative has been marred by e.tv’s decision to pull ‘Rhythm City’ and ‘Scandal!’ from the awards, reportedly due to a severe lack of information and organisation.
According to Channel24, the broadcaster decided to take both its soapies out of the running because “no information about the judging process, aims and other criteria were forthcoming from the organisers”.
Explaining why they “declined to participate in the Royalty Soapie Awards”, e.tv’s group head of channels, Monde Twala, said: “We did not have sufficient information about the awards, its judging processes and overall objective.
We have plans to meet with the organisers later this year to discuss the prospect of e.tv participating next year.”
