E.tv to broadcast the 2016 MAMAs
The 2016 awards will be hosted by entrepreneur, media personality and former Mama nominee Bonang Matheba.

E.tv viewers will get a chance to watch the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA). The awards will take place at the Ticketpro Dome on Saturday, October 22, at 9pm. E.tv will air the awards an hour later at 10pm.
The MTV Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016 celebrates musicians and achievers who have made the most impact on African culture over the past 12 months. The awards, which were established in 2008, by Viacom International Media Networks Africa, are a celebration of the most popular contemporary music across the African continent. E.tv is partnering with MTV to bring viewers this globally significant event for the third time this year.

The 2016 awards will be hosted by entrepreneur, media personality and former MAMA nominee Bonang Matheba.
Previously hosted in KwaZulu-Natal, the awards will be hosted in Johannesburg for the first time. Music fans, artists, music industry insiders and media are expected to attend the live event.

The 2016 MAMA will celebrate 18 award categories, which includes categories such as Best Male, Best Female, and Listener’s Choice and Best Group. Additional categories include the Africa Re-Imagined Award and Personality of the Year. Award-winning American rapper Future is set to join some of Africa’s best entertainers such as Alikiba, Babes Wodumo, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Ycee, Yemi Alade, Diamond, Emtee, Kwesta and Patoranking on stage.
AKA and Black Coffee are nominated in the Best Male category alongside Patoranking, Wizkid and Diamond. Gold medallist Caster Semenya and Pearl Thusi will compete against the likes of Linda Ikeji, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Wizkid in the Personality of the Year category. South African rap sensation Emtee is nominated in the Best Hip-Hop category.
