Durban hopefuls audition for Joyous Celebration

Joyous Celebration, founded in the early ’90s by Lindelani Mkhize, Mthunzi Namba and Jabu Hlongwane, released their 19th album in 2014. The album was titled Back To The Cross and recorded live in Soweto Grace Bible Church.

The album is celebrated for hit songs such as Kuregerera in Advance, translated ‘forgiven in advance’, sung in Shona and performed by minister Takesure Zamar Ncube from Zimbabwe.

Other songs include Xitsonga hymn Hallelujah Nkateko and Hlabelela, which was performed by Sphumelele Mbambo. The group also paid tribute to the late Lihle Mbanjwa, who lost her life in a car accident in December last year.

The group, one of the biggest gospel groups in South Africa, is currently holding auditions in preparation for their twentieth album which they are expecting to record in December 2015.

Durban hopefuls filled the Greyville racecourse to showcase their singing talent to the founders of the group, with the aim of being part of the group, also known for travelling all over the country doing live performances.
