DStv content creator awards 2023: How and why you should enter
The DStv content creator awards recognise exceptional content produced by both professional and non-professional creators that have gained popularity.

The DStv Content Creator Awards are back and open for entries. If you’re a South African content creator, influencer, brand, or agency, this is your chance to shine and follow in the footsteps of past winners like Nadia Jaftha, Donovan Goliath, and Coconut Kelz.
The categories for this year’s awards have been divided into two groups: Captivating Content and Special Interest.
This year, the awards will be different. There will be some new awards and some old favourites will be back.
The awards have partnered once again with DStv, who will be the title sponsor.

What is the DStv content creator awards?
The DStv Content Creator Awards have been launched to shine a light on the people, influencers, brands and agencies that make us feel good.
All of the brilliant personalities behind the thumb-stopping, double-tapping, stitch-worthy, meme-making, share-crazy, keeps-us-coming-back-for-more content are being celebrated and finally getting the recognition they deserve.
Who can participate in the awards?
The DStv Content Creator awards are given to those who have produced outstanding content, whether they are professional content creators or regular individuals who have created viral content.
This year’s awards are limited to South African residents, with plans to expand to other African countries in the future.

What are the changes introduced to this year’s awards?
According to Manuela Dias De Deus, the brainchild of the awards, they have added a variety of new categories based on popular demand.
“All nominees will be selected by a panel of judges. The judges will score the entries and the top five entries will become the nominees in that category.
“Once the five nominees in each category have been announced, some of those categories will open to the public for voting, which will garner huge reach,” said Manuela.
Last year’s winner
Kim Jayde, one of the winners of the 2022 DStv Content Creator Awards said winning the Fashion & Style award felt like a true accomplishment! “I’ve never dressed like everyone else, or wanted to,” she said.
“I’ve expressed myself through clothes, crazy sneakers and working with the best local designers in the country.
“This award celebrated me for truly being MYSELF! What a beautiful message to send to a world that can sometimes feel so lonely if you are a little bit different.
“I’m so grateful to the team and the judges that gave this award to me – allow the world to celebrate your unique & fabulous self,” said Jayde in a statement announcing that entries for the 2023 awards are now open.

How will the public be involved
Nominees in each category will be displayed on the event’s website, with a corresponding link to their entry on their own social media accounts, as directed to the public.
Who is sponsoring the awards?
The DStv Content Creator Awards has DStv as the main sponsor. Other sponsors include TikTok, Sol, and One-eyed Jack, with more sponsors to be revealed later.

The dates on which entries for the awards will be opened are as follows:
- Entries open: 3 May to 19 June
- Content Creator Workshop: June
- Judging: June-July
- Nominee Announcement: July
- Voting opens (public voting categories only): July
- Voting closes: August
- Awards show: Saturday 9 September. Tickets are now on sale via Quicket.
